The 5 Misconceptions of Children's Ministry

S. Sunday school is a fancy term for babysitter.
P. parents should not be involved in the ministry.
A. accepting bad behavior from the children is an obligation of the church.
R. responsibility for the training up of the children in the Lord belongs to the church.
K. kids do not understand the deep things of God.

Ministry done in this mindset is guaranteed to provide a "sunday/wednesday" spark but lack potential to become a fire.

The 5 Truths about Children's Ministry

T. Teaching the Children is the responsibility of the parents first and the church second. (They tend not to do what they do not see modeled in their homes).
O. Only when we understand that God will (even) use "a child to lead us" will we understand that they too were designed to do his will and be a integral part of our church body.
R. Reverence for the Lord's house must be established at a young age.
C. Children understand the deep things of God more than some adults. Every week when I ask if anyone would like to ask Jesus to come into their hearts they raise their hands...unlike us they are not ashamed and openly receive his love and grace.
H. Help by the parents of the children in the ministry is not only welcomed and encouraged but greatly needed by both children and staff.

Question:
If you were the one walking in darkness would you want someone to provide you with a spark or a torch?

Teachers, Parents...The children are rising up not behind us but along side of us...it is our responsibility to pass the torch. A torch that will be used to light up the next generation of believers on fire for God.
